After spending 40 hours on interviews and research, plus undergoing dozens of mascara applications (and taking numerous selfies) for more than a month, we’ve concluded that no one eyelash curler works perfectly for everyone; individual eye and eyelid shapes vary way too much for that. The best one for most eye shapes, however, remains the Shiseido Eyelash Curler. Out of the 10 eyelash curlers we tried, it gave us the longest-lasting and most attractive curls, and pinched the fewest people the least.

Shiseido Eyelash Curler, the best eyelash curler

Shiseido Eyelash Curler

The best eyelash curler
The Shiseido offers lasting results, is designed to prevent pinching, and comes with an extra curling pad, despite being cheaper than similar high-end models.
We recommend
Kevyn Aucoin Beauty Eyelash Curler, more expensive, more curved

Kevyn Aucoin Beauty Eyelash Curler

More expensive, more curved
While it costs a bit more than our top pick, the Aucoin got raves from testers with all different eye shapes.
Another good choice
Surratt Beauty Relevée, better for rounder eyes

Surratt Beauty Relevée

Better for rounder eyes
This luxury model is about $10 pricier than the rest, but people with rounder eyes who curl often may find its comfortable finger loops and smooth movement worth the cost.
A better upgrade
Trim Eyelash Curler, a drugstore alternative

Trim Eyelash Curler

A drugstore alternative
At just five bucks a pop (and including five extra curling pads), this eyelash curler is the best of the drugstore competition, offering better curl and less pinching than others at this price point.
Budget friendly
